Since stepping into her role as an Account Manager, Steph has embraced every opportunity to learn and grow, most recently by diving into Copilot to boost productivity and streamline her day-to-day. Whether she’s managing client relationships or exploring new ways to work smarter, she brings a grounded, curious energy to everything she does. Outside the office, she’s taken up Pilates and is a full-time chauffeur to her six-year-old daughter’s impressive schedule of extracurriculars!
We sat down with her to chat about her role, the tools helping her work smarter, and what she’s most excited to take on next.
An account manager’s role is very varied; at the heart of my role and the part I am most passionate about is client relationship management: I’m dedicated to understanding our customers’ needs and making sure we deliver on them consistently.
Most of my time is spent collaborating closely with clients and internal teams, acting as the bridge that connects everything together. Whether that’s the day-to-day tech challenges, aligning long term strategic goals, or simply checking in, I focus on building strong, trusted relationships that drive long-term success for both Everything Tech and our customers.
I see myself as a trusted partner to our clients, who can navigate the difficult world of technology and explain the benefits of tech to customers in a digestible way, as well as understanding the bigger pictures in the business realm.
While two days are never quite the same, which is exactly what I love, my role often involves a mix of travel, collaboration, and customer engagement.
Take last week, for example: On Wednesday, I started the day with an early train from the outskirts of Sheffield, where I am based, to our Manchester office, I joined a customer call to discuss their upcoming Windows 10 upgrade deadline. From there, I had a productive catch-up with our Marketing Manager, Negin, before heading into the city centre for our face-to-face monthly IT strategy meeting with another client. I then fit in a final Teams call with a customer preparing for their Cyber Essentials accreditation, just before catching the busy train back home.
Recently, I’ve been using Microsoft Copilot more extensively, and it’s genuinely transformed how I approach my day-to-day work. As an Account Manager, I often need to analyse client data, prepare insights, and stay on top of evolving trends. Copilot has helped me streamline research tasks by quickly summarising documents, extracting key points from emails and chats, and even generating draft responses or reports based on internal data.
One of the most impactful things I’ve learned is how to use Copilot to surface relevant information across multiple sources, whether it’s pulling together client history from emails, identifying action items from meetings, or finding supporting documents for proposals. It’s like having a research assistant that understands the context of my role and helps me focus on strategic thinking rather than manual searching.
A simple and effective tool that is included in our Microsoft 365 subscriptions, To-Do. I am not ashamed to admit that I love a list and working through a daily list helps me stay focused and organised. Also, the ping you hear when you tick off a task is really satisfying!
One of the most rewarding aspects of working with our team is the depth and breadth of experience we collectively bring. Although the team is relatively small, each member possesses expertise across different areas of the business, which makes for a highly collaborative and insightful working environment. Making the career change into the tech industry in my early thirties, without prior experience, was a huge worry for me but having access to such a knowledgeable and supportive team has been invaluable.
I have recently been working on a personal development project and developed a really strong PDP with the support of our HR team. As part of this journey, Everything Tech has kindly enrolled me in the CMI Level 7 Strategic Leadership programme. This qualification, offered by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), is equivalent to postgraduate-level study and is designed to enhance strategic thinking and leadership capabilities at an executive level.
I am really grateful to Everything Tech for investing in my growth and providing me with this opportunity to further develop my leadership skills and contribute more effectively to the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Outside of work, life is just as full and rewarding.
I’ve recently taken up Pilates, which has been a fantastic way to stay active while also bringing a sense of calm and balance to my week. I’ve also added a new set of wheels to the mix, a push bike, and most weekends you’ll find me out exploring with my daughter and our two dogs. It’s quality time, fresh air, and a lot of laughter.
