Andy Wiles plays a key role at Nexbridge, part of Everything Tech Group, overseeing voice operations and managing everything from infrastructure to regulatory requests.
Nexbridge provides reliable communication solutions with UK-hosted hardware, interconnection to Tier 1 carriers, TPS compliance services, and softswitch partitioning, ensuring seamless, compliant call centre operations.
We caught up with Andy to learn what an average day looks like (spoiler: no two are the same), how collaboration fuels his team, and his competitive spirit – plus, his love for bourbon biscuits!
I manage a team of engineers, porting managers and account managers, all focused on the voice side of the business at Nexbridge, which sits under the Everything Tech Group umbrella.
My work includes:
- Managing supplier relationships, service and rate reviews
- Overseeing customer interactions
- Responding to regulatory requests and audits
- Ensuring compliance with ISO and PCI accreditations
- Leading feature and functionality development, including rollouts of new solutions such as NXaaS (our feature-rich voice solution), PCI DSS Managed service and NRP
- Monitoring traffic and managing capacity
- Continuously improving internal tools and alert systems
There’s no such thing as a “typical” day in voice operations. But if there were, it would start with reviewing overnight processes to check for any non-compliant traffic. Next, we focus on data analysis to make sure we have sufficient capacity with our suppliers and on our own servers and systems.
We also closely monitor customer traffic to ensure it meets agreed volumes and success rates. The rest of the day is usually a mix of resolving customer queries, data requests, alert handling and – occasionally regulatory queries.
A large part of what I do involves MySQL and Excel for data analysis. I’m always exploring better, more efficient ways to extract and display data to the team. Copilot is a great tool for streamlining the process and delivering faster, more accurate insights.
I believe in collaboration and making sure everyone feels their voice matters. So, to me, it’s important that we empower people to contribute, share opinions and feel valued. It’s this approach that leads to a productive team.
I’m fortunate to work with incredibly hardworking, intelligent and dedicated people. We’ve built a team that genuinely supports one another – and knowing they’ve got my back when things get tough makes me proud. That feeling alone makes me feel that as a manager I must be doing something right and I’m incredibly proud of how well they look out for the business and each other.
Recently, one of our IPS providers planned several hours of complete downtime. But thanks to the collective efforts across the Everything Tech team, we found alternative solutions and reduced the disruption to just a few seconds. That kind of collaboration and teamwork is invaluable to us as a business and to our customers.
Many moons ago I used to do a lot of fishing – catching fish up to 55lbs! I’ve also competed in dog competitions to a high level with my labradors, which even led to us meeting HRH the Queen at Windsor in our prime.
These days, with three young kids, my hobbies have taken a back seat to theirs. As much as I always said I would never be one, I’ve become that sideline football dad, shouting encouragement and telling my son to run faster and tackle harder – and stop thinking he’s the next Lionel Messi.
When time allows, I enjoy running. Working from home means the biscuit tin is never far away – so something must help burn off the bourbons!
Do you see yourself thriving in a fast-moving, collaborative environment like the one Andy works in?
At Everything Tech Group, we’re always looking for talented problem solvers who love working as part of a team.
